Notes: For smillaraaq, who wanted Saizo and his unrequited devotion to his master; with apologies to thewriter0, who wrote a very fine Saiyuki fic with almost the same title and punchline. (It also seems to me that I've read another story that starts out the same general way, but I can't find it anywhere. If there really is such a story, props and apologies to the author.)
Summary: The Sanada Ten's hot weather pastime of choice is only inflaming Saizo's problems further.

(For those who aren't familiar with Samurai Deeper Kyo: Sanada Yukimura, a leading dissident against the rule of Tokugawa Ieyasu, is supposedly in exile at Kudoyama (Mt. Kudo). However, Anayama Kosuke, who is one of the Sanada Juuyuushi - 10 ninja warriors who serve Yukimura - serves as his kagemusha, or body double, allowing him to slip away unnoticed when he wishes.)

( Anyone watching Kudoyama on that cold autumn day - and there was always at least one watcher, the residents knew that - saw nothing more exciting than a small, poor clan preparing for winter ... )
